History

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is one of the most common and important parasitic diseases in Iran after malaria. Every year, about 20,000 new cases of this disease are reported from different parts of the country, and the actual number is several times the reported number. Provinces such as Khorasan, Yazd, Bushehr, Fars, Khuzestan, Ilam and Isfahan have the highest incidence of this disease in the country.
